the truth is     i wanted to love
     you for the rest of my life

expected my name nested
         in those of your children

you have always said ten
        i name them instead:


         and caution

p. hodges adams is a poet and playwright from Michigan. Currently, they are an MFA candidate in poetry at the University of Virginia. Their work has appeared in Pretty Owl Poetry and Bombus Press, where it was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. When not writing, they enjoy performing onstage and stargazing.
