“The Imperfect” by Matthew Klane

Nobody’s favorite nobody
was present
in another poet’s vegetably-privileged,
but literarily-flawed crock pot,
Laugh-until-you-cry.

#otd in 2016
while Trumpism
was doing its best “rehearsal” scenes
for QAnon or whatever
was coming next,
Nobody’s favorite nobody
was sautéing bitterness
like some blah po-biz George Bailey,
Godspeed.

Since
the Cold War history class when
Nobody’s favorite nobody
was asking students
to blurb his stupid little
John le Carré novel knockoff
instead of job, job, job,
and the students
were saying, “Dude, c’mon,
we’re not old and weird,”

so they said.
Currently,
I
was loving being left the fuck alone
to juxtapose stubborn sounds
and hone my interior
Guy Smiley––
Nobody’s favorite nobody
was reading those poems though
understanding nothing
and having no fun, honestly
none
